Practice Joiner

  • It’s important for the camera to be in position ready to shoot movement and its important that the camera moves with the movement.
  • Joiners give the illusion of time and space by different angles and exposure shows the illusion of time.
  • Both physically and in photo shop you have to overlap some and move the pictures around to fit the spot for the joiner to come together.
  • Pros of using photo shop is the pictures are digital and your not wasting a lot of film for the pictures, cons of using photo shop is you have to use the move tool to move the pictures around instead of physically doing. Pros of using physical printing is you get to move the pictures around physically, Cons of using physical printing is it cost a lot for the film and to have them developed.
  • I prefer the very organized and exact because i have a bit of ocd.

Aaron Siskind

My first impression of Aaron Siskind’s work is its very abstract and he likes to shoot in black and white, he likes to blur out the background or make it dark. He achieves abstraction by getting really close to the subject and blurring out the background or he uses contrast. Changing visual perspective, repetition, and composition are some of the elements Siskind uses and they are important to his work because it helps him achieve abstraction. I can change visual perspective and shoot in black and white and use some of the same elements he used in his work to achieve similar results.
